Pride in Canterbury Tales?

in class today paul talked about pride being a uniting factor in all 3 stories but i still dont see how it was a theme in the canterbury tales. can someone clear this up because just saying, "some of the characters fell due to pride" did not do it for me.

In the CT their pride is what makes them so flawed. In the tales that they tell, they try and make sure they are "the best" sounding. The pride i think is the only thing that makes the charactors view so squewed. They dont want to admit to their faults.

also in the CT, the friar, the monk, and other members of the clergy who were on the journey showed pride in their characteristics and from their descriptions. The friar was the character who cared more about himself than his religion and took money from people. He cared more about what rank he was, and how people veiwed him than his job. That also can pertain to many of the characters in the CT.
