proofreading/editing

Today in class we talked about proofreading and editing. Out of the 5 topics, there was the multi-paragraph and the essay section. I'm kind of confused between the two. Is the multi-paragraph suppose to focus more on transitions, than the essay as a whole?

The multi paragraph part is for transitions, the preceeding paragraphs should ssomewhat be related. You shouldnt have paragraphs that are completly unrealated next to each other.

Evan's right, the multi paragraph part is analyzing the flow of all the paragraphs of your essay. You have to ask yourself if the paragraphs relate to one another. The paragraph part is analyzing the individual paragraphs to see if each paragraph has all the right elements (topic sentence, development of the topic sentence, and transition sentences).

The words Mr. Lazarow used in class- relativity, coherence, transition, flow, order - help the editor to decide whether or not the "Multi-paragraph" aspect of a paper/essay has been done properly. Just double and triple check for the above components.
(just thought I’d throw that in because it seemed to help me understand)
