Why are Laertes and Polonius against Hamlet's thing with Ophilia? Does their conversation with Ophelia Forshadow later events dealing with Hamlet knowing or finding out about the ghost.
i'm not quite sure what polonius' and laertes' opposition to hamlet's courting of ophelia would have to do with hamlet finding out about the ghost. however, i do think their opposition might have something to do with a. jealousy of hamlet's royalty or b. shakespeare creating a contrast between their family and hamlet's family.
I think that Polonius and Laertes are trying to protect Ophelia and give her advice. They don’t want her to do something that would disgrace her name and the name of the family because Hamlet claims he loves her. And, I really don’t see a connection between Hamlet’s knowledge of the ghost and Ophelia’s conversations.
i agree with eddie. her father should support her actions and let her marry a king and be happy with her life. unless her father secretly hates the king and his family.
polonius and laertes could possibly object to her getting too interested in hamlet because they think he would never marry her. hamlet is royalty, so he may have to marry a princess which ophelia is not. also, it seems as thought her father and brother were protecting her from a possible broken heart because they say that hamlet does nto truly love her.

I am also puzzled why a father wouldnt want his daughter falling in love with a soon to be king.

also, i think you meant scene iii. that's when the conversations between laertes and ophelia and polonius and ophelia take place.
