Easter- Wings

Can anyone tell me what the last stanza means in Easter- Wings?

I didn't really get it either. I think it means that if he accepts God, he will be a stronger person. But, that's only a guess. I was confused by the last 2 lines, because I looked up imp and it meant "to graft or repair with a feather to improve a falcon's flying capacity" or "equip with wings" according to Merriam Webster online. But, then, he mentions affliction (which means to cause harm) that will advance his flight.
